WWW DadeWeb

Is this the official web site of Dade County?

Sorry, but this isn't the home for Dade County (Florida, Georgia, or Missouri). However, it is the (almost) completely useless web reincarnation of me, Dade Veron, and some of the things I find interesting, amusing, fulfilling, etc. "DadeWeb" is also a registered trade name (for me obviously) in the State of Louisiana. If you know me personally, that's great, because you already know what I'm talking about. If not, then that's an unfortunate shame; I hope you can figure this site out for yourself.
Time for a little history lesson... In the fall of 1997, I switched ISP's, moving from MSN (just as bad as AOL, but owned by Microsoft) to EarthLink Network. The switch was wonderful, and I have no regrets. EarthLink, unlike MSN at that time, offered its members free web space for a small homepage, so I decided to teach myself HTML and give it a try. With the help of several friends (most notably Jon Taylor, who made the logo I still use for DadeWeb), the site grew and it was kind of fun to play around with, especially since the end of middle school really wasn't a busy time. A little less than a year later, I though that getting myself a domain hosted by EarthLink would be fun birthday gift. I know it doesn't sound too cool, but I didn't have any better ideas at the time that were just as cheap. Of course, I guess my parents didn't think about the fact that this is one of those gifts that shows up again and again on the credit card statement for the rest of eternity. Oh well, that's not my problem! So DadeWeb was cool, had some fun content, and even contained a Member's Area complete with exclusive e-mail and message boards. Over time, however, I realized that the site wasn't going anywhere, and was just taking up too much of my busy high school time. So I allowed the site to kind of go defunct by default (with few exceptions), as visitors were greeted by a friendly message that the site was undergoing "renovations" that would never finish. How sad.
Fortunately, for those of you still reading this, the story doesn't end there. Digital cameras are a great invention. I say that because once I received my first digital camera at the end of 2001, I started to take more pictures than I ever did before. It's so easy, incredibly convenient, and with the help of ACDSee, very simple to put large thumbnails on the web. That being said, I started to place pictures from various events to the website (which by that time EarthLink had expanded my domain hosting space from 10 MB to 200 MB), prompting me to want to do a new redesign. Finding the time and content to do it was very difficult (and I'm still working on a few things), but from February through April 2003, I simply made time where I could as I slowly but surely worked on the redesign. So here it is....
Well I guess that's all I really have to say about the site for right now. Don't expect amazing content or perfect grammar, because that's not what I'm trying to do. I just want my own little home on the web. So if you're looking around, the table of contents on the home page has a description of every page I have up, plus every link contains a pop-up dialogue text that gives more information on that specific link. Please take a look around, and send me your comments, suggestions, and feedback.
