Based in suburban Rochester, New York, I am an IT professional and former Datacenter Systems Engineer with deep experience in datacenter architecture and virtualization, enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions, compute, storage, and other infrastructure hardware, and server operating systems support. I have focused on designing, deploying, evaluating, and managing VMware vSphere single and multi-tenant environments and earned my Implementation Expert credentials in 2021.

Now, as more enterprises move toward the "public cloud," I have shifted my main focus to VMC on AWS - VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services. As a current VMC Migration Engineer, Certified VMC Professional and 2x VMC on AWS Master Specialist, I help clients move their vSphere environments for both server and desktop virtualization to VMC and modernize disaster recovery operations with VMC tools such as VMware Cloud Disaster Recover (VCDR).

I am a value-added contributor to IT teams by bringing together critical thinking and analytic skills, impeccable attention to detail, demand for efficiency, strong communication processes, and an ultimate focus on end users. My unique background seamlessly allows me to combine technical and soft skills into an invaluable member of any group or project. My years in a family trucking business and as a theatrical Technical Director honed my talents in project management, working with diverse constituents presenting often competing goals and priorities, maintaining budgets and timelines, and managing people. I have supported tiny organizations, Fortune 500 corporations, and many institutions in-between. I am always willing to take on a new project or challenge or support colleagues in coming up with unconventional solutions to complex problems. I excel in learning to do by doing.

From early 2015 through Avantor's purchase of VWR near the end 2017, I was a key member of an IT infrastructure post-merger integration and server engineering team. In this role, I provided Tier 3 support to 50-plus regional offices in the Americas, took projects from pilot testing to production deployment, and designed infrastructure hardware solutions for acquired organizations as we integrated them into our systems and standards. I traveled frequently supporting the integrations team with discovery trips, equipment staging, platform migrations, and full-scale go-live events. Our cross-functional work required detailed coordination and communication across multiple silos, and I was often a liaison to other teams. I spent extensive time developing, documenting, and implementing standards for multiple IT processes with a focus on efficiency, communication, and the ability to monitor results.

At the end of 2017 I moved up from enterprise IT to the MSP world by joining High Availability Inc.'s Managed Cloud Services division as a Systems Engineer focusing on Veeam's backup and recovery platform. I quickly demonstrated my documentation and process management skills and rapidly expanded my systems responsibilities to include server virtualization and storage arrays. As a MSP, we managed and supported both our own hosted multi-tenant VMware vCloud Director environment and organizations' own vSphere environments. CDI, LLC acquired HA at the end of 2020, which allowed me to spend 2021 honing my focus on datacenter virtualization along with the underlying compute and storage infrastructure, including HCI platforms.

In fall 2022 I received an opportunity to join Effectual, Inc.'s VMC on AWS team as a migration engineer. Effectual is a highly driven, cloud-first AWS premier partner, and an exciting organization guiding clients on their full stack IT modernization journey. I am excited to see where this will lead.

Experiences before 2015, including in-person desktop and call center help desk support, are covered in my resume.

A New Orleans native, I am an alumnus of Arden Cahill Academy and Isidore Newman School. I hold an AB in American Civilization, with a focus on material culture, from Brown University. I also attended Yale School of Drama, spending two years in the MFA program in Technical Design & Production before returning to the IT world. When not in the home office or testing new technology and learning new skills in my labs, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three daughters in a variety of activities ranging from hiking to travelling to exploring museums. I also love any opportunity to bust out all the power tools on a fun woodworking project.
